Realistic Expectations: Navigating the Summer Luxury Real Estate Market

I hope you're enjoying the start of summer and all the fun it brings with it. For luxury real estate, summer usually means a slowing in the market, so my take this month may be a little tough to swallow. Based on current market conditions, I think it may be time for buyers and sellers to take a deep breath and realistically look at attitudes towards pricing. We're experiencing something that isn't uncommon, but seems to be an overwhelming theme at the moment - the desire to buy low and sell high. Logically, I think we all know that's a virtual impossibility, but in Arizona, where we are so accustomed to making huge money every time we turn over a home, that can create unrealistic expectations. We as realtors can pull off a miracle every so often, but we aren't miracle workers. Everyone we work with is just like you and wants the most they can possibly get. So, let's try to temper our pie in the sky expectations and know that a truly successful transaction is when both parties walk away feeling like they got a little more than they'd hoped for and gave a little more than they may have wanted.
